AFRISPAIN announces Lumkile Mondi, Chief Economist at the Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa, is the African keynote speaker at the Doing Business in Fast-Growing Africa conference. The conference is be held at the University Castilla La Mancha in Toledo, Spain on November 19, 2012.
Seven of the fastest growing economies in the world are present on the African continent. Yet, Africa is a global region largely untapped by Spanish companies and other European business markets. Mr. Mondi will provide insights into the macroeconomic and business environment in Africa, as well as specific projects in Southern Africa.
Mr. Mondi will be joined by other African leaders and experts that will share on topics like entrepreneurs, free or economic zones, franchising, ICT, and infrastructure. The conference is organized into panels focused on West Africa, East Africa, and Southern Africa.
At the conference, the Madrid Africa Initiative (MAI) cluster will be launched. MAI is a synergistic platform for the Madrid metro region and country of Spain to engage with the emerging continent of Africa – economically, culturally, academically, etc. Its aim is to improve and enrich the lives and livelihoods of communities in the Spain and those on the continent of Africa through business and entrepreneurial opportunities. Its mandate is to provide linkages between Spain and Africa to catalyze trade, economic, and investment flows.
The founders of MAI are AFRISPAIN and The Afribiz Foundation. The Universidad Castilla La Mancha is a Premier Strategic Partner. MAI is a sister city cluster to the Charlotte Africa Initiative cluster, which was launched earlier this year, in Charlotte, North Carolina in the United States.
